Mc-section is booked for 28 hours and 47 minutes from now (not that I’m counting down or anything!) I’m supposed to just “relax and not think about” the pending surgery procedure (sounds less invasive!). Anyone who knows me well knows this feat is nearly impossible. There’s not much to do on bed rest to keep me THAT entertained and distracted. Besides, I think I’ve seen every episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Intervention, What Not To Wear, Ghost Adventures…(just to name a few) to last me a lifetime.
While sitting around (relaxing and not thinking) I was inspired to create this post. My parents/babysitters have been generously watching my son EVERY day (ALL day) for the past 3 weeks so I can rest and take care of myself. My mom and I have been alternating between frozen meals that I’ve prepared, her fave recipes, leftovers, and “make whatever you feel like making him today” because I didn’t cook last night and/or forgot to take something out of the freezer.
Although my son eats pretty much everything he does have his fave meals. I know the difference because his fave meals and snacks get scarfed down in less than two minutes rather than the usual five minutes! I’ve compiled a list of his faves, as well as mine, mostly because they are easy to make, freeze well, or are recipes that the whole family can enjoy.
I’m not suggesting that my mom make all these recipes (especially not after she spent the entire morning cleaning my house!). I’m just thinking that having some “normalcy” (if possible) during meal time will distract my son from everything else going on. In all honesty, he is pretty intuitive…but at least he’ll be distracted for those (two to five) minutes that it takes him to eat!
