These grain-free chocolate chip cookies are almost to good to be true and by far one of the most delicious healthy cookie recipes I’ve ever made.
Substituting refined flour with nutty almond flour gives these cookies a crumbly texture and a rich, nutty flavour, with a healthy dose of protein, fiber, and heart-healthy fats.
Speaking from experience, it can be quite difficult to find a healthy variation of a traditional cookie recipe, at least one that stays true to the flavour and texture of the original. These grain-free chocolate chip cookies have the same decadent richness and crumbly, chewy texture as traditional chocolate chip cookies.
In addition, they lend well to any restrictive diet since they are egg-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free. They are naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup and have a rich, buttery texture from the extra-virgin coconut oil.
These cookies are so healthy and so wholesome that you could enjoy them as a guilt-free, nutrient-dense breakfast, as a mid-afternoon energy boost, or a post-workout snack.
You can also feel good about giving these decadent treats to the kids, who I’m sure will devour them!
Despite the fact that these cookies do not contain any gluten, they hold together extremely well. Double or triple the recipe and store some in the freezer for a grab n’go treat, that is, unless you or the kids devour all of them before they even make it to the freezer!
If you try this recipe (and love it!) be sure to snap a pic and tag me on Instagram with #bitesforfoodies so I can see your creation!
I tend to write late at night, these sound like a great idea to have on hand for that ‘late night snack attack’. 🙂

That looks like something me and my husband would enjoy! I haven’t tried baking a pure vegan cookie and I seldom use almond flour. This looks like a recipe for keep. I’ll bookmark this. Thanks!
I have a couple friends that are vegan. Glad to know there are recipes out there for them so they too can enjoy chocolate chips cookies!
It’s hard to find good vegan baked good recipes!
Look at that melted chocolate. I love chocolate chip cookies. They’re my favorite by far.
Who doesn’t like chocolate chip cookies?! These are definitely true to the original!
This cookie recipe looks so delicious and easy to make. I will have to get the ingredients i need to make this on the weekend.
I have to try this! I have never attempted to make grain free, but these look incredible!
You’ll surprised at how well they stay together, despite the fact there is neither gluten nor eggs in them!
I can’t wait to try these! I’m gluten free and it is so hard to find good gluten free snacks!
I agree! I myself have created a ton of recipes but they involve a lot of tweaking. This one is the best one I’ve made!
I am going to make these for myself! I have been having huge issues with certain foods and really need to find some alternatives!
These would be perfect for you…and you don’t have to give up the decadence 😉
These sound great! I’ve been looking for alternatives to cooking with white flour and I think I will have to give this a try!
I love cooking with almond flour! It is quite pricey so I don’t use if all the time though…
These cookies look tasty! I love almond flour, better and healthier
Oooo these cookies sound fantastic!!!!! I will have to pin so I can give them a try! Yummy 🙂
Thanks for pinning!
As always loving the photos of this! I would have to try these for myself!
Thanks!
These look very good. I really love that they’re grain free. I love recipes that are a bit healthier.
My kids would definitely eat these up! I love how you made them grain free for kids with allergies
Anyone without allergies will love these too..my husband devoured these!
That looks so delicious. I am not vegan, but would love to try this recipe.
I have never thought of substituting regular flour with almond flour. Your cookies did turn out great! Although my family has not gone gluten free, this would be a nice recipe for families who have special diets.
I think it’s worth a try to make it…if only just to prepare a healthier cookie for the family.
I’ve never heard of cookies like these before. Sound like a good idea for someone with allergies.
Substituting almond flour for regular flour is a brillinat idea. I would love to try your recipe. Bookmarking..
Thank you!
These look delicious! We have allergies in my daughter’s class so these would be perfect to make!
There are so many allergies in classes nowadays..you have to be so careful! It’s nice that everyone could enjoy these!
Oh my, these looks so good and I want some so bad right now! I have to try these, I love healthier options!
I would love to try making these. They look super delicious!
These cookies look so delicious and easy to make. I will have to get the ingredients to make them with my son! We bake together all the time!
That’s sweet…I love baking with the kids too!
Those look sooo good. I haven’t had a cookie in a long time. Would love to try these.
You should definitely try these since you can feel good about eating them!
These look awesome. I have a little girl who cannot have dairy, eggs, wheat or nuts. Do you think buckwheat or Teff flour would work instead of almond flour?
Oh no! Ive baked with buckwheat before but not Teff flour. You’d have to find the perfect ratio (which can be difficult). I do know that buckwheat flour makes a much denser cookie. What about oat or rice flour? I have a few recipes on the blog that call for rice and oat flour (1:1 ratio) and the cookies turned out great!
They look divine! Who wouldn’t want a healthier but tasty snack?!
These cookies look so delicious and easy to make. I will have to get the ingredients to make them on the weekend. my kids are going to love them.
I just realized that 10 days have passed…did you end you making them?
I’m so excited! I can actually have these cookies!!! (I’ve got a gluten, dairy, egg allergy!!)
I can sense your excitement, lol! You’ll love these!
What a wonderful snack to take along on a picnic or hike! So simple and easy to make and light! Thanks for sharing this recipe with us!
Thanks! Hope you love them as much as we do!
Vegan chocolate chip cookies? Interesting! I love chocolate chip cookies but never tried this one. Looks yummy!
Thanks…these are worth a try! Vegan or not!
I am trying super hard to eat healthy. I am still wanting junk food due to the sugar detox (I used to drink a ton of dp). I still get small amounts of sugar found in some foods. These cookies look amazing. I might have to give them a try.
The nice thing about these is that they’re sweetened with maple syrup. Still ‘sugar’ I guess, but more natural and definitely better than refined white sugar.
This looks super yummy and I love that it’s grain free. I’m bot sure though, if I can find the almond flour here.
You should be able to find it in bulk food stores. Look for ground almonds…sometimes it isn’t called almond ‘flour’
This chocolate chip made me want to go to my kitchen and prepare this. I’m going to save your recipe.
I agree. I love chocolate chip cookies. Now that our family is trying to get healthy cookies have been off the table. I think these are a great option.
That’s great!! Hope you try the recipe!
I love chocolate chip cookies and these look both healthy and delicious!! YUM!!
Delicious! I love that they’re vegan, and of course, that they have chocolate chips. I’ll have to try these!
That’s an interesting way to make chocolate chip cookies. I’ll have to see if I can find almond flour around here.
These chocolate chip cookies look so yummy and sound pretty healthy. I love almond flour
Their definitely much healthier than traditional cookies!
These look really yummy. I’m gluten free so I love trying different flours for my baked goods. Plus, the almond flour is actually nutritious compared to all purpose flour.
It definitely is! I love using almond flour but it can get expensive. I’ve dabbled with different flour combinations and I foundd that the best one is oat flour and rice flour!
I would love to try these. It is something I have been wanting to do for along time now, but never found a good recipe!
Even though we’re not grain free or vegan in our house, I’m going to give these a try. I think the ingredients and the texture are both very interesting. They look delicious.
Why not? They’re definitely more wholesome than traditional chocolate chip cookies!
Those cookies sound super tasty! I can’t wait to make these for the kids.
