Grain-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

Grain-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

These grain-free chocolate chip cookies are almost to good to be true and by far one of the most delicious healthy cookie recipes I’ve ever made.

Substituting refined flour with nutty almond flour gives these cookies a crumbly texture and a rich, nutty flavour, with a healthy dose of protein, fiber, and heart-healthy fats.

Grain-Free Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

Speaking from experience, it can be quite difficult to find a healthy variation of a traditional cookie recipe, at least one that stays true to the flavour and texture of the original. These grain-free chocolate chip cookies have the same decadent richness and crumbly, chewy texture as traditional chocolate chip cookies.

In addition, they lend well to any restrictive diet since they are egg-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free. They are naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup and have a rich, buttery texture from the extra-virgin coconut oil.

Grain-Free Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies are so healthy and so wholesome that you could enjoy them as a guilt-free, nutrient-dense breakfast, as a mid-afternoon energy boost, or a post-workout snack.

You can also feel good about giving these decadent treats to the kids, who I’m sure will devour them!

Grain-Free Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

Despite the fact that these cookies do not contain any gluten, they hold together extremely well. Double or triple the recipe and store some in the freezer for a grab n’go treat, that is, unless you or the kids devour all of them before they even make it to the freezer!

I have never thought of substituting regular flour with almond flour. Your cookies did turn out great! Although my family has not gone gluten free, this would be a nice recipe for families who have special diets.

These look awesome. I have a little girl who cannot have dairy, eggs, wheat or nuts. Do you think buckwheat or Teff flour would work instead of almond flour?

    • Oh no! Ive baked with buckwheat before but not Teff flour. You’d have to find the perfect ratio (which can be difficult). I do know that buckwheat flour makes a much denser cookie. What about oat or rice flour? I have a few recipes on the blog that call for rice and oat flour (1:1 ratio) and the cookies turned out great!

  • They look divine! Who wouldn’t want a healthier but tasty snack?!

Vegan chocolate chip cookies? Interesting! I love chocolate chip cookies but never tried this one. Looks yummy!

  • I am trying super hard to eat healthy. I am still wanting junk food due to the sugar detox (I used to drink a ton of dp). I still get small amounts of sugar found in some foods. These cookies look amazing. I might have to give them a try.

    • The nice thing about these is that they’re sweetened with maple syrup. Still ‘sugar’ I guess, but more natural and definitely better than refined white sugar.

  • MyTeenGuide 9 years ago

This looks super yummy and I love that it’s grain free. I’m bot sure though, if I can find the almond flour here.

  • rika agustini 9 years ago

These chocolate chip cookies look so yummy and sound pretty healthy. I love almond flour

  • These look really yummy. I’m gluten free so I love trying different flours for my baked goods. Plus, the almond flour is actually nutritious compared to all purpose flour.

    • It definitely is! I love using almond flour but it can get expensive. I’ve dabbled with different flour combinations and I foundd that the best one is oat flour and rice flour!

  • Jeanette 9 years ago

I would love to try these. It is something I have been wanting to do for along time now, but never found a good recipe!

Even though we’re not grain free or vegan in our house, I’m going to give these a try. I think the ingredients and the texture are both very interesting. They look delicious.
