What Not To Say To A Mom!

What Not To Say To A Mom!

Last week I brought my son to get his first long overdue (my bad!) haircut! What an exciting first milestone!!

BEFORE…

Here is a picture before the “event” took place. He most likely thought we were going out and about like we usually do (hence the smile and excitement!)…poor thing didn’t know what he was in for!

And fast forward to the “scene of the crime”…To my surprise, he was NOT a happy camper! I say this because he’s such a calm and relaxed baby. Most of the time when I take him places he just sits quietly, looks around, and takes everything in around him with stride.

There were a few ladies getting their hair done who were trying to entertain him (to no avail!) and it got to the point where I had to hold him tightly next to me and the hairdresser snipped once or twice every minute or so!! (In retrospect, I was pretty naive to think that he was actually going to end up with a perfectly straight and even haircut!)

The worst part of this “event” was when one of the ladies came up to him, trying to console him, and said (and I quote!), “Oh, poor thing! You can tell he doesn’t get out much!!”

SERIOUSLY??!!! (Of course more profane thoughts were going through my head!)

Usually I’m not confrontational, but my motherly instinct took over and I informed her that he has been “getting out” since he was a baby, meaning he’s gone on many (way too many!) shopping trips, grocery store runs, and not to mention, he’s practically a regular at Starbuck’s!

It made me ask that question that I’m sure many moms have asked themselves, “What is this person thinking? Do they not have a filter?!”

Isn’t there a written rule in the world of “momdom” that you NEVER comment on a mom’s method of raising her child, or let alone make any comment that can be taken as ignorant, inappropriate, or downright irrelevant??!!

Anyway, back to the event at hand…

AFTER…(Not the most flattering haircut, but at least he doesn’t have the mullet and Alfalfa sprouts at the top of his head!)

What’s the rudest or most inappropriate thing someone has said about your parenting skills?!
