‘Tis the season for holiday baking! These scrumptious peanut butter sugar cookies are a yummy twist on the traditional recipe and a festive, holiday treat for the kids…to make and to eat!
I often choose to modify recipes with vegan-friendly options however, I opted to use traditional ingredients, such as butter and sugar. Having said that, the insistent desire in me-the one that always influences me to add personal touches to recipes-inspired me to add some peanut butter to the batch.
The results were delicious; the peanut butter adds a depth of flavour and extra creaminess to these normally crispy, traditional sugar cookies.
My husband and I enjoyed these just as much as the kids. Moms and dads can enjoy these with a mug hot tea or coffee and the kids with a glass of milk. Not only are these delicious, they are fun to make as a family (that is, if you disregard the prep and clean-up time!).
This year we started a new tradition-holiday baking with the kids! We used festive cookie cutters for the kids’ cookies and round cookie cutters to make simple, elegant peanut butter sugar cookies for us and for visitors during the holidays.
To say my children were excited is an understatement! It was so heart-warming for me to see the kids so involved and so genuinely happy while preparing their cookies…
My daughter having fun with her (inappropriately-sized) rolling pin!
Big brother showing her how it’s done…
Enjoying her gingerbread man!
Store in an air-tight container for up to one week or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
You had me at Peanut butter! My favorite treats always include peanut butter 🙂
I bet these are so delicious! I wish we could try out this recipe, wonder how it would work with soy butter which is thicker…
Perfect, love the photos of the kids with the cookies. They look so yummy, looking forward to trying these out. Thanks for sharing.
