Everybody loves the rich and nutty flavour of Nutella. My kids definitely share my love for it! This Nutella banana pudding is a decadent albeit nutritious treat that I can feel good about feeding the kids since it’s loaded with potassium-rich bananas and healthy fats from the creamy avocados.
This recipe is foolproof and cannot be an easier to prepare. It requires only 3 ingredients to prepare, with a few add-ins, if desired. All you need is a ripe banana and equally ripe avocado and a dollop of Nutella. Although it is optional, the addition of extra virgin coconut oil lends a buttery richness to this pudding and not to mention another healthy dose of heart-healthy omega 3-fatty acids.
The degree of sweetness of this pudding will depend solely on the ripeness of the banana you use. In fact, the riper, the better. If the banana is super-sweet you can omit the additional maple syrup, although it does add a delicious depth of flavour. If you don’t care much for maple syrup simply substitute it with raw honey, or organic brown rice syrup.
I tend to make this pudding very often since I always have ripe bananas and avocado on hand. It literally takes minutes to make and the kids devour it. Don’t have any Nutella in the pantry? Alternative nut butters such as almond and peanut butter tastes just as good and add the same nutty flavour and creamy consistency as the Nutella.
If you try this recipe (and love it!) be sure to snap a pic and tag me on Instagram with #bitesforfoodies so I can see your creation!
A perfect combo. I can’t wait to try this my daughter. Thanks for sharing.
oh, bananas + avocados are my faves! i should try making this at home soon!
You had me at Nutella! Yum!
What a cool idea to serve it out of a coconut. I love the sounds of this for a breakfast item.
Oh this sounds so delicious! I’d love to try this banana pudding. My kids love nutella so this one would be a hit for sure!
Confession: I’ve never tried Nutella! I hear it’s amazing, but I would have never thought to use avacados to make pudding! I think that’s something I may have to try out here in the near future. I wonder if you could sub out the banana for something else though because I’m not a big fan…
Omg you had me at Nutella!!! This sounds so tasty!! So need to give this a try. Yum
Lol, I think most people got reeled in by the Nutella!
I love bananas and I love nutella… so … this is PERFECT! Yummy! Never even heard about this recipe before but I am so trying it. It looks addictive.
It is…and I love that it is actually healthy for you!
These sounds so yummy and nutritious. I love avocados. Can’t wait to try your recipe.
Thanks Bonnie!
Yum! This sounds really delicious! I’ve been experimenting with avocados in desserts. They are so yummy!
I love avocados!! I go in spurts where I use them in muffins, cakes, cookies, and smoothies!
I cannot wait to try this! It looks so incredible! I bet even my kids would gobble this up!
I am so trying this. I love banana nd avocado and it looks delicious!
That looks like a very healthy dish esp with adding Avocado to it.
Definitely…it’s full of heart-healthy fats!
This looks super yummy! I would love to try this and get my daughter to try avocado. We don’t eat much of it but I know it’s so good for you.
I don’t think she’ll suspect there’s avocado in here…as long as you blend it well!
This is such an interesting spin on pudding. If my boys were smaller they would probably eat this up because they love the consistency and the avocado for sure! Will definitely try!
I’m sure ‘big’ kids will enjoy this too…I do 😉
Definitely going to try with my grandbabies. Thanks
Great! I’d love feedback if you try it!
What a tasty treat! We sure love banana and nutella but we haven’t tried avocado with nutella. Not yet, but we will for sure Thanks for this recipe!
This sounds fabulous. I adore nutella and avocado. I’d love to try this.
This is perfect! I have started going to the gym, and keep getting this banana peanut butter chocolate smoothie. It has a lot of powders, a tiny bit of banana, and almond milk. I love that this seems like it will taste similar, but has natural ingredients! We always have bananas and avocados around here!
I make a similar smoothie…it’s even better when I freeze the bananas in the summer and make ‘ice cream’ with the same ingredients!
Seriously yummy! I can have all these ingredients too! (I am on a weird intolerance diet these days!)
Been there, done that! It was the best choice I could have ever made for my body!
I’m loving this idea. I should try to make this with my daughter. That combo sounds greaty.
This sounds sooo good! I’m back to my diet today so I’ll definitely have to try this! Especially since I LOVE avocados!

Ooooo this pudding sounds pretty tasty!!!! I will have to give it a try. Yum 🙂
I love banana pudding, but I think I might be the only person in the world who has never tried Nutella! The addition of the avocado seems a bit strange to me but I would be willing to try it. It sounds (and looks) very intriguing!
I love banana pudding too. It reminds me of so many happy childhood memories. I love the idea of making it from scratch myself.
I actually never had banana pudding growing up!!?
Hmm, you might be! lol! You MUST try it 😉
I absolutely love the presentation of this sweet treat. I am a fan of Nutella and bananas! I have yet to use avocado in a dessert recipe yet, but I would like to.
Thank you!!
That looks delicious! I love desserts that use healthy substitutes like this one. Avocado is so good for you!
I know of a few little ones that would absolutely love this! I like that it has avocado and bananas – two wonderfully healthy ingredients!
Even though there’s a bit of Nutella in there, it is still much healthier than packaged pudding.
I love puddings and that looks so good! I love Nutella, avocado and bananas. I have to try this.
I would literally eat anything with Nutella. It is one of my all time favorites and I think this sound phenomenal!
Thank you Robin!!
I love all the above, yum..
I love banana pudding! This sounds really good. I like that you used Nutella and avocado. That’s very interesting.
I would have never though about nutella and avocado together! Looks like a delicious sweet treat for babies
Thank you…it’s decadent but healthy!
This is an interesting combo. I’ve never thought to add avocado and I love that you put it in a coconut shell.
I love avocado pudding and making ice cream out of bananas so I have a feeling I will just adore this!
Have you every made avocado ice cream? It’s delicious! I make it the same way I make ‘nice cream’ with frozen bananas.
Wow! And you did it in a coconut shell! I’m very impressed, I wonder how much you taste the avocado in it. I do love avocado, but not sure I’d like to taste a whole lot of it in pudding.
Thanks Heather! I definitely think that the banana and Nutella overpower the avocado…it has such a mild flavour too!
The versatility of avocado at its best! All these ingredients definitely would make a delicious pudding! Loved the presentation – pudding served in a coconut shell.
Thank you! And, I agree that avocados are versatile!
I have NEVER had banana pudding but I really want to try it! What a delicious idea for a dish!
Banana pudding with avocado? Something new to me, but I have no doubt that that is delicious. Avocado and banana are two of my most fave fruits!
You would love this then…and who wouldn’t mind some Nutella in there!? 😉
This looks and sounds like a really good snack recipe to try with my kids. They love nutella and it makes for a great healthy snack!
This looks just absolutely perfect what a delicious end to a meal. x
This sounds like a pudding I am going to have to try making. We love maple as well as bananas and my son love Nutella. I have to say I love what you are serving the pudding in which is a brilliant idea.
Thank you Rebecca!
This looks so yummy! I definitely want to try to make this!

What an interesting pudding. I have never thought about adding avocado to my pudding. What a great way to add vitamins
I eat one avocado a day (usually added in a sandwich or served in slices) so this is a great way to switch up my avocado consumption!
And I thought I had successfully talked myself out of Nutella. Now I’ve gotta go buy a jar just so I can try this oh-so-healthy recipe! It’s Vegan, so of course it’s healthy, right????
Lol!! I’ve tried that in the past…it didn’t work! The thing I hate about Nutella is that it’s so pricey and it literally lasts less than a week in my house!
This looks very interesting. I’m not a huge fan of avocado but I am a huge fan of chocolate, so I need to try the mix together.
Avocado has such a mild flavour that it gets overpowered by the bananas and the Nutella…you should try this!
I love Nutella but I want to eat it the healthy way so I have got to try this vegan recipe! Thanks for sharing!
That looks so yummy. I love the avocado base to make it extra creamy and extra good for me!
Bananas are creamy but the avocado is definitely the key ingredient to making this pudding super smooth and creamy.
