Summer has arrived, and we are spending ours in Sardinia, a rustic, majestic island off the coast of Rome.
Wish you were here?
Well, you’re welcome to live vicariously through my family!
Sardinia: Our Home Away From Home is a collection of photographs that depict our day to day life on this beautiful island.
We spend every summer in Sardinia and I always feel absolutely blessed that we can take in the peace and tranquility of this stunning island, enjoy the local food, and live the simple life, just as the Sardinians do!
Our own oasis!!!
Hydrangeas lining the entrance to our property.
Such beautiful colours!
Our beautiful Bougainvillea tree.
Hand-picked zucchini flowers from our garden.
On her way to the fig tree!
Can’t wait to devour these!
Basil, basil, and more basil!
Homegrown fruits and veggies starting to sprout in our garden. Everything from watermelon and melon, to herbs, tomatoes, eggplant, Swiss chard, and more.
Nonno makes us fresh spremuta (orange juice) every morning…and the kids get to pick the oranges!
Homemade, local olives!
This is what I get to wake up to every morning 😉
Our very own Mulberry tree!
Fresh, organic mulberries-hand picked, of course!
Delicate, tender zucchini blossoms-perfect for frying or sautéed in a frittata.
What you would see on every morning walk, right?
The simple beauty of the countryside.
Sardinia looks incredible. It reminds me a little of the Central Otago region of New Zealand. It’s great to live or holiday in spots of such great natural abundance. I love seeing all the fruit in the trees and vegetables growing in the gardens.
Interesting! That might be a place I have to visit next 😉
I DEFINATELY must get to Sardinia!! Absolutely love the photos and beauty of your home away from home – you must feel amazing when you are there with your family. So happy for you!
No, way!! What a beautiful place to live in the summer. I would most definitely love to visit and enjoy the beauty of it all.
This looks like the perfect summer! I can’t believe all the fresh produce right at your finger tips! Are you growing all of that or is that just what you see as you walk around the countryside?
Oh wow the color of the Bougainvillea tree’s flowers looks so beautiful! It’s my favorite actually. I’ve never tried mulberries before. You’re so lucky to have them even hand-picked. 🙂
Mulberries are delicious! I hadn’t tried them either until I discovered our tree! 😉
This is breathtakingly beautiful. What an amazing way to spend time with family. The scenery, weather, setting…all of it is so amazing.
I think I just died and went to the Roman countryside! What an amazing way to get to spend your summer and what an amazing experience for your kids! I love it!
Haha! Pretty much! Yes, we are very lucky!
Wow, I wish my family & I were spending our summer in Sardinia. Those hydrangeas are absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing these gorgeous photos!
They are…the line the entire driveway!
Sardinia looks like paradise! What great memories to be able to pick your own oranges for your morning orange juice. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower — and yours are simply beautiful! Thank you for sharing your place with us through pictures.
I don’t have much of a green thumb however, I love our garden! I hardly ever buy fruits and veggies when I’m here…I just look at the garden and pick whatever I’m in the mood for!
Ok wow, that is your home away home! That garden is a dream and the flowers are stunning
That looks like heaven! I haven’t heard of Sardinia before but really love how beautiful it looks. I’m glad you guys had a great time there! Wish I was there!
It feels like…so beautiful and so peaceful!
I’ve heard great things about Sardinia and it’s no surprise that you had a great time there! The photos all look so gorgeous and amazing 😀
Thank you! And yes, we are having a great time (we’re here all summer!).
Wow! The photos you used in this post are gorgeous! Makes me want to visit for sure! Those mulberries look delicious! What an amazing place! I’m jealous 🙂
Wow! This place is just amazing. Your photos are gorgeous and it tells a lot about the place. I’m sure that the place more beautiful than the photos. I would really love to bring my family here.
Photos never do this place justice 😉
wow! I would love to visit here. What a great family summer tradition. Very lucky! That basil oh my gosh that basil!! I am sure the aroma is amazing. Beautiful photos! Enjoy your time
It’s one of my favourite herbs…I love that I can pick fresh basil whenever I want!
Now, I am going to have to figure out how to get this gig! You must be Europe locals to be able to upend yourself for the summer months. Those mulberries are gorgeous- you should see our pitiful tree here!
My husband is from Sardinia we stay with family every summer!
Sardinia is such a lovely place to live. Who needs a vacation when you live in such a dreamy place! I always enjoy learning about places and I’d never heard of Sardinia until now. Your photos tell such a lovely story.
It ends up not really being a ‘vacation’ because we live the life of the locals. It is a vacation from our reality at home in Canada though 😉
It looks so beautiful and I love palm trees! It’s my favorite since I am from Charleston,SC. My camera would need a backup here!
I’ve actually heard that Charleston is beautiful!
Paradise! Your photos are absolutely beautiful and really make me feel the essence of Sardinia. I am jealous of the basil and other vegetation. I would make pesto every evening! Sardinia is GORGEOUS! 🙂
Good to hear…I feel like sometimes photos don’t give it justice!
Sardinia looks like a dream vacation spot. Your property is just amazing. I would love to pick some mulberries and that orange tree is just gorgeous. Get the guest room ready for me. I need a European vacation.
It’s not actually our property…more like my in-laws property. But, still ‘ours’, right?! 😉
