I’m proud and flattered to announce that I’ve been nominated for my second Liebster award by my fellow (local) blogging mom at JoyfulParentingWEC! (By the way, a HUGE thanks!).

What’s a “Liebster” award, you might ask? It’s basically a virtual award passed on from blogger to blogger (almost like a chain mail…do you remember those things? I used to love them!).  In a nutshell, it’s a way to share the love among bloggers, show support and give a virtual high-five (or hug, depending on how well you know the other blogger!).

The Liebster award actually has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, etc. It was created to recognize and/or discover new bloggers and welcome them to the blogosphere.

Here are the rules:
1.) You must link back the person who nominated you.
2.) You must answer the 10 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you.
3.) You must pick 10 bloggers to be nominated for the award with under 200 followers (I broke this rule!).
4.) You must come up with 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
5.) You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees.

Here are my answers to JoyfulParentingWEC’s questions:

1. What’s your family motto?
We don’t have one specific motto…when my children are old enough to understand it will be something like, “Be independent, respect others, and ALWAYS follow your intuition!”

2. Favourite quote or best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
I have a few, “Never go to bed angry!” (I don’t always abide by it, unfortunately!)

3. What makes you joyful?
It sounds selfish, but the perfect balance between family time and ME time!

4. Who is/was your biggest influence or role model?
My mom-I’ve always had her to look up to, confide in, respect, and I want to raise my children with the same methods and morals as she did!

5. What do you do better than anyone else you know?
Contemplate. I am analytical by nature so I question everything, consider every option, (and did I say,question everything?), before making a decision!

6. How do you take care of yourself?
I eat a balanced diet, consisting of a variety of fruits, veggies, legumes, and try to avoid red meat, dairy and gluten. I also exercise (yoga and TRX) 3-4 times a week.

7. What do you know now that you wish you knew back then?
That the first 3 months of your child’s life is NOT the hardest! It gets harder and harder. My son is now 2 1/2 so we’re in the “terrible two” phase. No one told me his regression after his sister was born would include INCESSANT whining, trouble sleeping, pooping in his pants (even though he’s potty-trained!).

8. What one word or phrase best describes you now?
Hmm…friendly? extrovert? analytical? (I can’t choose just one!)

9. What one word or phrase best describe who you want to be in the future?
My children’s best friend 😉

10. Why do you blog?
It’s a way for me to share my feelings and thoughts on motherhood and life, and a portal for me to share my recipes (and also keep track of them for myself!).
