If the fact that these healthy apple nachos are paleo, dairy, and, gluten free doesn’t sell you then maybe their simple 5-minute preparation and absolutely delicious flavour will! Five simple ingredients and five minutes is all you need to prepare this nutritious, decadent snack.
Moms, I know your time is precious and for this reason I challenge you to attempt this recipe. It can’t be any harder than walking over to the pantry, rummaging through the shelves in search of a healthy snack, settling the kids at the table, unwrapping said snack, and pouring a glass of milk. Ok, it might take a few more minutes than that (like 2 minutes!), but the end product is unequivocally better than any packaged food item you might have lingering in the pantry.
This recipe was definitely an impromptu one. My mind was food fantasizing (as it often does) while slicing some apples for afternoon snack. And so, healthy apple nachos were born. And they were so well-received that I confidently confirm that these babies are here to stay!
We couldn’t get enough of these! We love the combination of these particular flavours however, you can add any toppings you’d like, such as;
- sliced or slivered walnuts, almonds, or cashews
- peanut butter or nut butter of choice
- salted or raw pumpkin or sunflower seeds
- melted white chocolate
- caramel sauce
- date paste (fresh dates blended with water and lemon zest)
- fresh berries, such as raspberries or strawberries
- lemon or orange zest
- crumbled cookies or chocolate bars
These healthy apple nachos are an explosion of flavours and textures in every bite-creamy nuts, crunchy chia seeds, sweet coconut flakes, decadent chocolate sauce all smothered over fresh, tart apples. And they’re healthy too, especially if you choose to prepare homemade chocolate sauce. Just blend coconut oil, cocoa powder, and sweetener in a small food processor, and voila! (And there’s the extra minute or two I previously referred to!)
What a great idea!! So much easier to make and to eat than caramel apples ( my fave!!)…noticed someone mentioned Nutella as a topping! Yes!!
Thanks Maria! Come back to let me know when you try them 😉
I love apple nachos! What a nice way to keep it healthier by using dark chocolate (we usually use nutella)
I thought of using Nutella but I didn’t have any on hand, lol! That would have been my first choice 😉
These look like they would make a fun healthy (semi-healthy) snack for the kids on the weekends.
Healthy Apple Nachos look and sound delicious! Plus, they seem really east to make!
The addition of the chia seeds really intrigues me. I haven’t used them for cooking yet but I’m anxious to give them a try.
They add a nice crunch!
those look really good. i’ll have to try these soon.
I have never tried apple nachos. They look so good and what a healthy option to the regular nachos
We LOVE healthy apple nachos! A great dessert without wrecking your diet! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you…and so true! Who says you can’t enjoy sweet treats without ‘wrecking your diet?!’
Healthy indeed! We love nachos but the chips and cheese kind of nachos. But this is something that I have no doubt we will love too since it has chocolate chips and pecans in it. 🙂
This is totally amazing
This is a good way to get the kids diving in to something healthy. 🙂 Everyone loves apples and these look amazing.
I’ve actually never had issues with my kids eating fruit…they love it! I thought I would just surprise them with this sweet treat 😉
When I envisioned ‘apple nachos,’ I didn’t expect to see a photo like that. This recipe sounds and looks really appetizing! I love how everything doesn’t look ‘overdone.’
Thank you!
The recipe looks easy to follow however finding the ingredients and preparing for them is quite the challenge here. Maybe it’s time to revisit local markets which are farther from home to discover new things. 🙂
I’m assuming it’s the coconut oil and chia seeds that are difficult to find? Whereabouts do you live?
I never in a million years thought to make something like this. Great idea! Although I’m not a fan of dark chocolate – I bet it tastes good mixed with the apple!
I’m not much of a fan either however, you can sweeten the sauce as uch as you need to buy adding extra agave or whichever liquid sweetener you use!
This is truly an awesome idea indeed. I never thought of having apple nachos but I will have to make these for sure. Yummy!!! Thanks for sharing.
These are so creative and they look so delicious. I can’t think of these as nachos though haha, but I will gladly have these anytime as a snack.
I can’t in good conscious call these “nachos”, but it looks amazing!!! I looooove apples with peanut butter, and never thought about adding other yummy goodness to them!
Lol, I completely understand!
This would be the perfect dessert for my sweet tooth kids. It has everything that I want them to have but it’s sweet enough for them.
You could even make it a little sweeter (and still healthy for them) by adding some melted honey or pure maple syrup!
Omg these look delicious!!!! I love apples so I will definitely be giving these a try!!
I totally need to re-create these! These look SO awesome. Never thought to use apples.
Oh yum. I make a similar apple nacho but I use coconut oil instead of olive oil and I haven’t thought to put chia seeds on them. Will have to try this next time.
I used coconut oil as well…have you seen these made with olive oil??
Oh! My kids would love this, I’ve never made them this nachos with apple.
These look really good. I bet they would taste amazing if they were baked in the oven too!
Ooh, I hadn’t thought about baking them! Thanks for the idea…I’ll try it next time!
I love this take on “nachos” :). So creative. And with all those toppings, I bet any kid (or adult, for that matter), would find themselves digging in. I know my toddler would love to help make this dish. Although we’d have to leave off the coconut…my husband isn’t a fan ;).
Thanks! Actually, I loved these too! I’m definitely going to make them again for ALL of us!
These look so delicious! My son really loves apples, this is a great new way to serve them.
Oh lala! I always say Im going to make apple nachos and haven’t. Thanks for the yummy reminder 😉
yum. these look good. I prefer green apples over red. I might add some snickers on top though 🙂
Me too! Actually, I don’t like red apples that much at all. I find that they also lack that crunch that green apples have. Snickers do sound good too 😉
Not only does it sound delicious and pretty healthy too, it LOOKS fantastic! The colors and arrangement is stunning! Great job!
Thanks so much! I’m really trying to improve my food photography skills so that compliment means a lot 😉
Very nice recipe! I am sure my family would enjoy this very much, especially since it is so healthy. Thank you!
Wow, this looks so good. I would of never thought of giving my daughter something like this. I’m so trying it.
This has now become one of MY personal faves!
That looks so scrumptious! I’ll definitely have to give this recipe a try sometime.
These are LITERALLY making my stomach growl. Wow. I am shocked that they are healthy because they look so good. This is an awesome and creative idea! I will definitely be trying this. Very Pinterest worthy 🙂
This is perfect for Pinterest. You seriously just made me hungry with the awesome photos. It like a caramel apple with chocolate instead and fruit?! YUMMMMM
Looks really delicious though i am not a dark chocolate fun at all.
Neither am I really! You can sweeten the chocolate sauce as much as you need to…just add more liquid sweetener 😉
Those look so good! It is like the best of both worlds with the fruit and chocolate!
That does look really good! We love eating apples so I know this would go over so well with our household.
This looks like such a delicious snack. It would be a great way to get the kids to eat more apples.
My kids actually love apples, or any kind of fruit for that matter. I was wanted to surprise them with a little treat!
Yep. Trying thus STAT! This looks amazing. We are huge apple fans at our place so this would be gobbled up in seconds no doubt!
Great! Would love to hear what you think of these!
Oh my gosh, that makes me want to go to the store right now and grab a bag of granny smith apples! I will try this sometime soon!
I’m wondering if pears will work too? Just in case you have some of them sitting around 😉
I am totally drooling over these right now. Holy moly, they sound delicious – and healthy!
Thanks!!
These look absolutely mouthwatering. I love the added touch of the coconut if I could I’d out it on everything.
Me too! If you actually browse through my recipes you’ll see that I put coconut in almost everything, lol!
Who knew that nachos can be healthy too? I love all the
combinations you shared!
Not the exact same thing…but pretty close! lol!
Great Idea – The cool part is that you can make endless varieties also, different fruits, nuts, toppings. I’m jealous I didn’t think of this
No need to be jealous, lol! You can recreate this recipe with any toppings of your choice!
My kids would be all over this. They love apples. This is great!
Mine too! They eat them no problem but I thought I would spice things up for them 😉
I prefer this over regular nachos. I could imagine the nice kick of tartness from the apples.
These are my kind of nachos. I’d love to snack on these! The chocolate sauce sounds great for these!
I use the same recipe for the chocolate sauce to make homemade chocolates. You should check out the recipe; http://www.bitesforbabies.com/recipes/two-bite-chocolates/
I just had nachos today but unfortunately not the healthy kind. These look amazing and I’m definitely going to make these next time.
Actually, those are one of my vices, lol! These definitely won’t satisfy your craving for nachos but they might for your sweet tooth! 😉
Wow, these look so good! I would have never thought to make apple nachos!
I am allergic to apples, but man I wish I wasn’t! This looks amazing!!!
Allergic to apples?? I have never heard of it!! I’m sure pears would work 😉
What a great way to enjoy a tasty healthy snack! I absolutely love it. Thanks so much!
There are so many different garnishes too…I could make these every day, lol!
What a fun treat to make that everyone in the house is going to love! It photos up pretty too. 😉
